One Laser, Lasting Solutions: The Modern Treatment for Your Toughest Foot Problems
Discover Cutera® GenesisPlus™ — a single, revolutionary laser therapy clinically proven to safely and effectively treat toenail fungus, plantar warts, neuromas, and scars without needles or downtime.

Finally, a Real Answer to Your Frustrating Foot Condition
Whether you’ve been hiding embarrassing toenail fungus for years, battling a stubborn plantar wart that won’t go away, or suffering from the daily pain of a neuroma, you know how much a persistent foot problem can impact your life.
You’ve likely tried the messy creams, the ineffective home remedies, or have been told to just “live with it.” The reason these approaches fail is simple: they don’t address the problem at its source. To achieve a real, lasting solution, you need a technology powerful enough to solve the problem from within.
Cutera GenesisPlus: A Technology Proven Across the Board
At San Mateo Podiatry Group, we invested in the Cutera GenesisPlus™ because of its unparalleled versatility and proven clinical results. This advanced, FDA-cleared Nd:YAG laser uses targeted light energy to safely eliminate the root cause of your condition without harming the surrounding healthy tissue.
The clinical data on this specific laser technology is why it is the gold standard for non-invasive treatment. The results speak for themselves:
- Painful Neuromas: Clinical research shows an 81%1 to 95%2 effectiveness rate in resolving pain, with 84% (1) patient satisfaction. High-level research identifies this as a premier non-invasive treatment 3 , avoiding the risk of surgery-related stump neuroma. Objective proof shows pain is significantly decreased or absent in 94% of lesions4 and that neuroma size can shrink by 44% on ultrasound (4).
- Plantar Warts (Verrucae): Achieve an incredible 96%5 clearance rate against stubborn plantar warts, often after just 2 to 3 treatment sessions. This laser spares surrounding tissue, unlike cryotherapy
- Toenail Fungus (Onychomycosis): With an 80% effective rate for mycological clearance6 after two sessions, the GenesisPlus is superior to oral antifungals for safety and topicals for efficacy.

Frequently asked questions
Nail infections are caused by fungi that thrive in moist and dark environments. Toenail fungus, also known as onychomycosis, is a condition in which the toenails become yellow or discolored, thick and brittle as a result of a fungal infection.
These infections feed off the keratin found in the toenails and the skin around the toes.
Because fungus is so prevalent, anyone can develop fungal toenail infections.
Studies have shown that as many as 1 in 3 people have been affected by this problem.
There are other conditions, such as psoriasis, that can change nail appearance similar to onychomycosis, or nail fungus. In those cases, additional testing such as a nail culture or biopsy is necessary to confirm the diagnosis.
If you suspect you have a fungal infection of the toenails, Dr. Metaxas and his team can make an accurate diagnosis. Call our offices today for an appointment.
Generally, patients report the following:
- Discolored nails
- Yellow streaks under the nail
- Distorted or thickened nails
- Brittle, crumbly or ragged nail
- Nails separated from the underlying skin
- Buildup of debris (nail fragments, skin) under the nail
- White spots or streaks on the nail surface

1. Topical Medications: Generally had low rates of effectiveness when used in isolation
2. Systemic Medications
Lamisil (terbinifine) – a safe and effective (up to 60%) medication taken orally, requires blood testing depending on how it is dosed. Early studies of Terbinifine and it’s FDA clearance required routine blood testing during treatment.
Subsequent studies have shown that this is not necessary depending on dosing patterns.
3. Cutera GenesisPlus Laser Treatment – Laser Treatment for Toenail Fungus
Cutera GenesisPlus laser treatment can safely eliminate toenail fungus infection using modern laser technology and is FDA approved to treat toenail fungus, or onychomycosis.
Studies have shown the laser to be up to 85% effective in reducing the presence of the fungal infection that causes onychomycosis.
No one treatment option is guaranteed to relieve infection, but our Doctors can evaluate your individual case and recommend the one that's best for you!

We always start with an initial consultation to determine if treatment is correct for your case and if needed, additional therapies.
The treatment packages include three laser treatments, generally spaced 1-2 months apart.
The consultations are billed to your medical insurance and are in addition to the laser treatment package.
Nails grow very slowly, up to one millimeter per month. We generally advise patients that it can take four to six months to see the early signs of clear nail growth. Complete nail clearance can take up to twelve months or longer.
Health insurance will pay for consultations however, does not pay for laser treatment; Treatment package investments range from $1495 to $2995.
